SUMMARY:Meet the Author - Jonathan Dunsky (Zoom Event)
DESCRIPTION:A Death in Jerusalem is a historical mystery set in Jerusalem i
n 1952\, a time when life was divided in two\, with barricades and walls b
etween the eastern and western parts of the city.&nbsp\; Rich in historica
l background\, the book deals with one of the most contentious political i
ssues in Israel’s history\, whether or not Israel should negotiate direc
tly with Germany for reparations for the Holocaust.&nbsp\; This issue divi
ded Israeli society&nbsp\; and the struggle against negotiations reached a
boiling point on January 7\, 1952\, when protestors stormed the Knesset f
 ollowing a fiery speech by Menachem Begin.&nbsp\; Not merely a mystery\, A
Death in Jerusalem is a journey back in time to a young state of Israel\,
beautifully capturing the country\, the city\, and its people.&nbsp\;\n\n
Jonathan Dunsky is the author of the Adam Lapid mysteries\, a series of hi
storical novels set primarily in Israel in the 1940s and '50s.&nbsp\;A lon
gtime student of history and an avid reader of crime fiction\, Dunsky comb
ined his two passions to create his protagonist\, Adam Lapid\, a Holocaust
survivor who works as a private detective in the fledgling State of Israe
 l. A native of Israel\, Dunsky did not grow up speaking English at home. A
s a teenager\, he decided he wanted to master the language and so started
reading books in English and checking unfamiliar words in the dictionary.
It's a habit he keeps to this day. The Adam Lapid series numbers seven nov
els and one short story\, so far. Dunsky is writing the eighth novel in th
 e series\, with many more to come.&nbsp\;In addition\, he has published a
standalone thriller called The Payback Girl and a number of short stories
in various genres. Dunsky resides in Israel with his wife and two sons.\n\
