 umption is the story of two young women who are outsiders even in their ou
 tsider tribes.&nbsp\; One is the mathematically-gifted daughter of an Orth
 odox Jewish family and the other is the street-smart daughter of a neglect
 ful immigrant Latina mother. Their meeting\, under unusual circumstances\,
  and their struggles with the cultural bonds of their respective communiti
 es\, is&nbsp\;&nbsp\; a vivid story of faith\, love\, and family.\n\nMs. L
 eicher grew up in a Jewish and Latina family in the Bronx which gave her a
  keen eye for the&nbsp\;&nbsp\; prejudices\, beauty\, and spirituality of 
 each culture. She holds two degrees from Harvard and has&nbsp\; devoted he
 r work life to social justice causes. Acts of Assumption is her debut nove
