Last week, I shared a personal video with you inviting you to look inward as we begin the reflective journey towards Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Sharing with you the story of the great Rabbi Zusya, I asked you to begin evaluating what you need to do to become the best “you” that you can be as this new year approaches.
This morning, I want to ask you to begin to shift your focus outward- towards your relationships with others. During this past week I have subscribed to a wonderful program being put together by Valley Beth Shalom in Encino, CA where they are sending out video clips, teachings and artwork every day of Elul to invite us to think about where we are in our life’s journey at this moment. Entitled simply “Ayeka” (where are you), and  taken from question that God asks Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden,  this series is a practical way to take these days of Elul seriously as we progress towards the Yamim Noraim, Days of Awe.
Check out, for example, this wonderful two minute video by Rabbi Ed Feinstein asking the simple question: Where are you in your relationships? Powerful, and connected to this time of year as well as to the 15th anniversary of September 11th, this video will change your day.  Take two minutes- and then do the work that is being asked of you. You will be glad that you did.
