What’s In The Machzor
During the Yamim Noraim (Days of Awe), we use a special prayer book called a machzor, literally meaning “cycle,” as we “cycle back” and return each year to the High Holiday season. While it contains many of the same tefilot (prayers) familiar from the rest of the year, this unique liturgy also includes additional prayers and poetry that add both depth (and time!) to the service.
For those who are less familiar with daily and weekly prayer, the machzor can feel dense, intimidating, and difficult to navigate. Join Rabbi Schonbrun for a brief introduction to the machzor, its history, structure, and contents, as we explore some of the spiritual treasures found within this ancient book of prayer and poetry.
This class is in person.
