Join us for our kickoff program for the 2024-25 Meet the Author series. Our first event of the year will be held in-person with the option for those of you who can’t join us to participate via Zoom. Our first author, Seth Bornstein, author of Swimming to Jerusalemhas written plays, short stories, and essays. Swimming to Jerusalem is his first novel. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he attended Parsons School of Design and has had a career in urban economic development with positions in the public, private, and academic sectors.
Swimming to Jerusalem is the story of Bram Goodman; his family, friends, colleagues, and demons.
Born in France, he spent his childhood in Israel and moved to the United States as a teenager. After his freshman college year, he went back to Israel and enlisted in the Army with his cousin Yoni. After his discharge, an aimless and disillusioned Bram made his way to Paris where he met Liz, an American, and followed her back to the States. Decades later, when Theo, his youngest child, was seeking to learn about his heritage, Bram began to confront the past that he had attempted to keep at bay. It is a journey that took him back, both emotionally and physically, to a place he thought he could leave behind.
Buy your copy of his book from Bookshop.org (to support independent bookstores) or amazon.com. Books will also be available the day of the event.
