Tikkun: Scribal Errors, Instructions & Decorations — What Does the Talmud Prescribe?
When it comes to the precise letters and writing of a Torah scroll, or even smaller sacred texts, such as those found in a mezuzah or tefillin, the Talmud offers a wealth of insight.
Exploring a fascinating digression in Tractate Menahot, Rabbi Schonbrun will share some teachings about some of our most sacred ritual items. Join him to study a range of scribal topics, including the decorative crowns on certain Torah letters, detailed instructions for writing a Torah, guidelines for correcting scribal errors or repairing damaged Torah scrolls, as well as a discussion of the ancient practice of affixing a mezuzah to our doorposts.
On this holiday, when the Torah is at the center of our focus, join Rabbi Schonbrun for a literal closer look at the text of our people.
There is no charge for this program but your reservations are requested for planning purposes.
